Cells are the basic units of life. Every living organism, including humans, is made of cells.
Without cells, life cannot exist. The human body contains billions of cells. Each cell has a specific job and helps the body function properly.
Cells form tissues, and tissues form organs. Some cells help us move, others carry oxygen, and some protect the body from disease.
Every cell is alive and performs important functions:
1. It takes in nutrients.
2. It produces energy.
3. It removes waste.
4. It grows and divides to make new cells.
Even though cells are very small, they are highly organized. Inside each cell are special structures that control how the cell works.
Cells work together in harmony. If cells stop working correctly, tissues and organs cannot function properly, and the body becomes sick.
