God's Commandments: First, God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses on a mountain called Mount Sinai and wrote them on two stone tablets. Later Jesus came and taught the same commandments. He said that all of them can be summed up in two big rules: love God with all your heart and love other people as yourself.
1 Love God Most of All.
COMMENTARY:
God should be the most important in our life. He made everything and gives us every good thing: love, family, food, joy, and life. When we love God first, He helps us be strong and brave. God loves us more than anyone. He listens when we pray and He is always near us. If God is number one in our heart, everything else becomes better — school, friends, family. We feel peace and happiness inside when we stay close to Him. God wants to be our best Friend forever.
2 Do Not Worship Idols.
COMMENTARY:
An idol is something we love more than God. It can be a toy, money, a phone, games, or even a famous person. But those things cannot give real happiness. They can break, get lost, or go away. God never leaves us. He is strong forever. We should look to Him first for help, love, and joy. Only God can take care of our heart.
3 Respect God's Name.
COMMENTARY:
God's name is holy and special. We should not use it as a joke or a bad word. When we speak God's name, we show respect and love. We remember that God is powerful and kind. Good words show a good heart. Respecting His name means we honor God with our mouth.
4 Keep One Day for God and Rest.
COMMENTARY:
God gave us a special day each week to rest and worship Him. He knows we get tired from school and work. On this day we stop rushing and spend time with God and family. We can pray, read the Bible, sing songs, and relax. It reminds us that God takes care of us always. We are valuable not because we work, but because God loves us.
5 Honor Your Father and Mother.
COMMENTARY:
Parents help us grow, learn, and stay safe. We should listen to them with a kind heart. We speak kindly to them and thank them for their care. When they get older, we help them too. Families become strong when we love and respect each other. God blesses a family where children honor their parents.
6 Do Not Kill.
COMMENTARY:
All people are special because God made them. We must protect life and help others feel safe. Not hurting others shows love. Jesus also taught us not to hate in our heart. We should forgive, be patient, and bring peace. God wants us to choose love instead of anger.
7 Keep Marriage Promises.
COMMENTARY:
Husband and wife must love and trust each other. They promise to stay together and take care of each other. Breaking this hurts many people — husband, wife, and children. God wants families to be strong and full of love. Keeping promises shows true love.
8 Do Not Steal.
COMMENTARY:
Do not take what belongs to others — money, toys, ideas. Cheating on a test is also stealing. Taking without asking is wrong. We must work honestly for things we want. God gives us what we need, and we should be thankful. A kind heart is better than a greedy one.
9 Do Not Lie About Others.
COMMENTARY:
Lies can hurt people very much. Words can break trust and damage friendships. Telling the truth keeps us strong inside. We protect others with our words, not harm them. God wants us to be honest and kind.
10 Do Not Be Jealous.
COMMENTARY:
Jealousy makes the heart sad and angry. We see what others have and we feel bad. But God gives each person different blessings. We should be thankful for what we already have. A happy heart celebrates others and trusts God. Contentment brings peace and joy.
